HOW TO BREAKDOWN BIG WEDDING CHECKLISTS & GET STUFF DONE
Engagement season is just around the corner (yay!) and I know how overwhelming wedding planning can be especially when you first start. Annnnnnd add in a pandemic it's a whole new level!
That's why I'm sharing ways to breakdown those big wedding checklists and actually get stuff done!
Write It Down
Writing down exactly what you need to get done that day/week/month is SO helpful. Write down 3 big tasks mixed with a few little ones and start with the hardest one first. Starting with the hardest one is the best move, because you will be the most energized and focused. Once you finish the tough task, you will feel SOOO good and you'll be ready to move on to your next task with ease.
Focus on One Task
Always focus on one thing at a time. Most of us are great at multi-tasking (or so we think) but it's not beneficial for productivity to try and get two tasks done at the same time. When you try and do multiple things at the same time, it can cause you to make mistakes and ultimately waste more of your valuable time. Your time is precious, especially when you're planning such an important celebration, so do yourself a favour and only focus on one task and one tasks only!
Schedule Uninterrupted Time
What does it mean to actually schedule uninterrupted time? Well, it means to put aside some wedding planning time and eliminate any distractions. Whether at night, over the weekend or whenever you and your partner can sit down to cross some stuff off your wedding checklist, make some time available to be uninterrupted. To do so, you may need to turn off your phone or even putting it on silent will work, BUT flip your phone over so you don't see those notifications coming through!) Create an environment to allow you and your partner to simply focus on the task that needs to get done.
Make a Decision & Stick to It
I can't say this enough to my couples throughout the wedding planning process, so I'll mention it again... 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙩! There's nothing more time-consuming than going back and forth with a decision and second guessing yourself. Put all the options on the table and choose what works best for you and don't look back. You are making so many decisions throughout your entire wedding planning journey, so not sticking to your decision will cause you so much unnecessary stress AND waste your valuable time. And remember your time is precious right? If you are unsure about a decision you made, simply confront someone like your wedding planning because sometimes all you need is a second opinion to make you feel and ease knowing you made the right decision!
These are just some of the ways to help create a wedding planning experience that you'll actually enjoy because you're not stressing over everything that needs to be done. It's a really big deal planning such a special celebration, so don’t forget to take some time to enjoy the engaged life when you aren’t crossing off those tasks on your wedding checklist!
If you have any tips that help you get stuff done, I'd love to hear them so do share in the comments!
